A FDA-approved injectable treatment, KYBELLA® allows patients to reduce excess fat beneath their chin, commonly known as a “double chin.” KYBELLA® works by destroying fat cells beneath the chin to help define and sculpt a more youthful jawline.
How KYBELLA® Works
KYBELLA®’s active ingredient is synthetic deoxycholic acid, a substance found in the body that assists the body in breaking down dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® targets and destroys fat cells, preventing them from storing additional fat. When these cells are eliminated, the body naturally processes and removes them, decreasing submental fullness.

Treatment Process
- Consultation: During your consultation, your treatment plan is customized based on your aesthetic goals and the amount of fat under your chin.

- Procedure: The chin area is numbed with a topical anesthetic, and multiple small injections are made into the targeted fat. It usually takes between 15 and 20 minutes. Ice will be provided to reduce discomfort and swelling, though some swelling is to be expected immediately.
Post-Treatment and Recovery
Following the procedure, you may feel numbness, swelling, or bruising in the treated area, which generally subsides within 4-7 days. Visible results are typically seen after 2 to 4 treatment sessions, with treatments spaced at least two months apart. Up to six sessions may be necessary to achieve optimal results.

How many KYBELLA® treatments will I need?
There is no set number of treatments because it depends on the individual. Many patients see results after 2 to 4 sessions, spaced at least two months apart. As many as 6 treatments may be required to reach optimal results.
Is KYBELLA® painful?
Discomfort during the treatment is generally minimal. A numbing agent may be used to enhance comfort during the injections.
Are there any side effects from KYBELLA®?
There are a few side effects that can occur, such as swelling, bruising, numbness, and redness, which usually go away within a few days.
How long do KYBELLA® treatments last?
Fat cells cannot regenerate once they have been destroyed. After reaching your desired results, no further treatments are necessary.
