Botox/Dysport/Daxxify
Neuromodulators are agents that modulate nerve activity by inhibiting or enhancing the transmission of nerve impulses. In aesthetic medicine, neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify are used to temporarily relax specific facial muscles, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Beyond addressing existing wrinkles, these treatments are also effective preventive measures, helping to delay the formation of new lines by minimizing repetitive muscle movements.
Advantages of Neuromodulator Treatments
- Non-Surgical Solution: Achieve smoother skin without invasive procedures.
- Quick Procedure: Treatments typically take less than 15 minutes, fitting conveniently into busy schedules.
- Minimal Downtime: Resume daily activities immediately after the procedure.
- Natural-Looking Results: Enhance your appearance while maintaining natural facial expressions.
FAQs
What is the difference between a static wrinkle and a dynamic wrinkle?
Dynamic wrinkles are lines that appear during facial expressions, such as smiling or frowning, and disappear when the face is at rest. Over time, these can develop into static wrinkles, which are visible even when the face is relaxed. Static wrinkles result from the natural aging process, loss of skin elasticity, and repeated facial movements. Neuromodulators are effective in treating dynamic wrinkles by relaxing the underlying muscles. For static wrinkles, we offer other modalities, such as laser treatments, to help soften their appearance. We can discuss the best options for you during your consultation.
Will I look frozen after treatment?
No, neuromodulator treatments aim to relax targeted muscles without compromising your natural facial expressions. The goal is to achieve a refreshed appearance while preserving your ability to convey emotions naturally.
How do I know which product is best for me?
During your consultation, we will assess your facial anatomy and discuss your aesthetic goals to recommend the most suitable treatment option.
How do I know how many units I need?
The number of units required varies based on factors such as the treatment area, muscle strength, and desired outcome. During your consultation, we will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.
What areas can be treated by neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators are versatile and can address various concerns, including:
- Forehead Lines: Horizontal lines that form from raising the eyebrows.
- Frown Lines (Glabellar Lines): Vertical lines between the eyebrows caused by frowning.
- Crow’s Feet: Lines radiating from the corners of the eyes due to smiling or squinting.
- Bunny Lines: Wrinkles on the sides of the nose that appear when scrunching.
- Lip Lines: Vertical lines around the mouth, often from pursing the lips.
- Chin Dimpling: Uneven skin texture on the chin.
- -Neck Bands: Vertical lines on the neck.
- Masseter Reduction: Softening the jawline by relaxing the masseter muscles, which can also alleviate teeth grinding and jaw tension.
- Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating): Reducing underarm, hand, or foot sweating by inhibiting sweat gland activity.
How do neuromodulators work?
Neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify contain purified botulinum toxin, which blocks nerve signals to targeted muscles. By preventing these muscles from contracting, the overlying skin smooths out, diminishing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Can I get a Diamond Glow or Glow Trifecta facial the same day as a neuromodulator treatment?
Yes, you can. When scheduled in the same appointment, you will have the facial first, followed by the neuromodulator injections administered by Dr. Milman or Becki, RN, before finishing products are applied. This sequence helps maintain the effectiveness of both treatments.
What should I do or avoid before and after the treatment?
For detailed pre- and post-treatment instructions, please refer to the instructions page on our website. (Insert link here to that page on our website). Additionally, upon scheduling your appointment, you will receive an email with comprehensive guidelines to ensure the best possible outcome.
What if I try Botox/Dysport and do not like it?
If you’re not satisfied with the results, rest assured that the effects of Botox/Dysportare temporary, typically lasting 3 to 4 months. There are no permanent changes to muscle activity, so any effects will wear off over time. While most of our patients love the results, it’s comforting to know that there’s no long-term commitment with your first treatment.
Do you accept Alle and Aspire points?
Yes, we do. Our front desk staff will be happy to assist you in setting up these complimentary rewards programs if you haven’t enrolled yet. Alle is the loyalty program by Allergan Aesthetics, covering treatments like Botox and Juvederm, while Aspire is offered by Galderma for products such as Dysport and Restylane. These programs allow you to earn points on qualifying treatments and redeem them for future savings.
Do I have to get Botox on the same day as my consultation?
Absolutely not. We understand that deciding on a treatment is a personal decision. You’re welcome to have a consultation to discuss your options and then take the time you need to consider before scheduling the actual injections on a different day.
When is a good time to start getting Botox? At what age?
The ideal age to start Botox varies based on individual factors such as skin type, genetics, and lifestyle. Many experts suggest that individuals in their late 20s to early 30s may benefit from preventative Botox treatments, especially if they are prone to developing fine lines due to expressive facial movements or other factors. Starting treatments during this period can help delay the formation of deeper wrinkles. However, the decision to begin Botox should be personalized, taking into account your unique skin concerns and aesthetic goals. Remember that “the best wrinkle is one you never get.”
When should I get Botox/Dysport/Daxxify prior to an event?
A minimum of two weeks. Neuromodulators start to take effect 2-3 days after injection and fully settle by the end of the second week. It is possible to need a touch up at two weeks, which would require another full two weeks to take effect. Therefore, if you have a special event that you’re getting ready for, please schedule your neuromodulator injections four weeks prior to that event if possible. If not possible, then at least two weeks.
